Sight words are the most commonly occurring words in the English language. They help your preschoolers and young children with learning to read. Also known as Dolch words, these words are most commonly called sight words, because many of them can not be sounded out when reading and therefore need to be recognized by sight.
These words make up to 80% of all words found in children’s reading. There are 220 sight words and we have a list of pre primer sight words and a downloadable worksheet below of these dolch words listed by grade level (pre primer (pre k) thru to grade 3).
