I’m A Little Scarecrow Song:

(original author unknown)

(Sung to: “I’m a little Teapot”)

I’m a little scarecrow,
Raggedy and worn

I wear a hat,
And a shirt that’s torn

When the crows come,
I wave and shout,

“Away from my Garden
Get on Out”

Scarecrow Song:

(original author unknown)

(Sung to: “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear Turn Around”)

Scarecrow, Scarecrow,

turn around.

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

jump up and down,

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

arms up high,

Scarecrow, Scarecrow,

wink one eye,

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

bend your knee,

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

flap in the breeze,

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

climb into bed,

Scarecrow, scarecrow,

rest your head.

Busy Little Scarecrow

( © preschoollearningonline.com – D. Robinson )

Busy little scarecrow,

standing high,

I look around,

and I watch the sky,

When the crows fly down,

I know what to do,

I flap my arms,

and yell shoo, shoo, shoo!

Build a Scarecrow Lesson Plan Theme for the Kids:

A nice way to build or add to these scarecrow songs for kids would be to help children learn more about scarecrows with some fun learning activities. You can do this by asking the preschool children questions like:

  1. What are scarecrows?
  2. What are scarecrows used for?
  3. What do scarecrows look like?
  4. Who uses scarecrows?

Any questions like that. These are good for helping children to learn about scarecrows. You can build a theme or lesson based on answering simple questions like these and others you may have.

Pictures & Coloring Pages:

You can incorporate pictures of scarecrows with the preschool children. Look at a variety of different images of scarecrows etc. You may leave these pictures out for the preschool children to look at later and examine.

Scarecrow Books & Stories:

You may get books about scarecrows and read these with the preschool children.

Art Activities:

Try to find simple art activities for kids that involve scarecrows. You could have the preschool children draw scarecrows, paint them, make simple scarecrows etc. You just have to get creative and take some time to look for new ideas for teaching the children.
